It is not an exaggeration to say that this poor pooch was literally just skin and bones!

This stray, who was captured and taken to a local dog pound in Romania, barely had any life in her when found by rescuers from Howl Of A Dog.

All alone in her filthy kennel, she was starving, weak, and sickly. She couldn’t even react much to her rescuers. Still, there was a glint of hope in her eyes, as if she was reaching out to anyone who could save her from her heartbreaking situation.

At that moment, her rescuers made a silent pact to get her out of her current nightmare. Little did they know that this stray’s condition was worse than they could imagine.

Worse Than They Thought

Rescuers quickly brought the dog to the vet to be medically examined. Nicknamed Anna, this canine was quite a trooper despite the new environment and people around her.

After some tests, Anna’s results were grimmer than expected.

She was severely underweight, dehydrated, and anemic. Given her emaciated look and lack of body fat, who knows when she last had a proper meal. She also lost a considerable amount of muscle mass during her time at the pound.

To make matters worse, further tests showed that Anna had internal parasites in her digestive tract, making any food she ate almost useless. She also had mange from all the mite infestation on her fur, as well as cuts on her tail, ears, and legs.

It takes all the strength one could muster not to cry at poor Anna’s condition.

Anna’s Amazing Recovery

Anna’s physical body might have been weak, but her spirit was strong and resilient. You could see in her eyes that she trusted her rescuers and believed that she would be okay.

First, the vet tackled the problem of her parasites and her starving and dehydrated body. Anna got rounds of antibiotics and was injected with intravenous glucose and amino acids. She also had medicated baths to address her mange and wounds.

Slowly but surely, Anna recovered. You could immediately see the difference in her gaits—from a fragile one at the start to a lively stride after her treatments.

She put on her weight back, developed some muscles again, and can now energetically play with her new furry friends. Anna loves other dogs and even cats! She has become quite a cuddle bug during her stay at the shelter.

A New Life For Anna

Best of all, a lovely family from New York fell in love with Anna’s inspiring story and decided to bring her to the US. The couple, Lizz and Charlie, together with their dog Dakota, welcomed Anna into their home.

Her new family notes that Anna loves napping by the fireplace, playing in the pool with Dakota, and “supervising dinner preparations.” Nothing but Michelin star-like meals for this pooch from now on. This fighter deserves the best of the best!
