Meet Remy, a sweet dog from rural Romania.
From his excessive tail wagging and excitement whenever he sees people, you probably won’t suspect that this friendly pooch actually suffered through physical abuse from a terrible owner.
Despite his past experiences, he remains a sweetheart. But if it weren’t for the kind hearts of some rescuers who happened to spot him, he would have remained in the streets, alone and without a loving home.

Remy was spotted by workers and volunteers from Howl Of A Dog, a dog shelter in Romania. They were in a rural village to neuter and spay stray dogs when they noticed that this friendly pooch was always there to greet them every day.
Rain or shine, Remy was there to say hello. They couldn’t help but get curious about the dog.
The workers asked around the neighborhood, but nobody really knew much about Remy. All they found out was that Remy would stay outside a grocery store and the lady in the store would sometimes feed him.

But she didn’t own the friendly pooch, nor did she know if the dog had an owner.
Because he was “nobody’s dog”, the workers gave him the nickname Remy. They also gave him a collar so he wouldn’t look like a stray dog anymore.
The Grim Mark on His Face
However, the workers believe that Remy had an owner once due to the scar on the bridge of his nose.
It’s not just an ordinary scar. It most likely came from abuse.

In rural Romania, some people believe that burning a dog’s nose with a hot iron rod can make its immune system stronger. Some even think it can treat distemper, a fatal disease in dogs.
Of course, this cruel practice is void of any scientific truth and has no proven medical benefits at all. It only causes pain and suffering to the animal.
On top of his scar, the workers also noticed that the tip of Remy’s left ear had been deliberately cut. It is heartbreaking to know that such a sweet dog endured so much abuse.

Nobody knows why Remy was abandoned, but the workers suspect that he must have been abandoned for his sweet nature.
In many parts of Romania, dogs are mostly seen as tools. If they can’t be fierce and act like guard dogs, they’ll be discarded.

Knowing this sad truth, the workers made it their new goal to find a loving home for this sweet pooch.
They were hoping that someone in the area would formally adopt him. But when there were no takers, the shelter decided to take Remy home with them.
From Remy To Milou

After his short stay in the shelter, Remy finally found his fur-ever home!
Millions of people saw his rescue video and the shelter received many applications for his adoption. Remy, now named Milou, eventually went to a family in Charlotte, North Carolina where he spends his days playing with his new brother Lupo.
Such a sweet dog deserves a sweet ending!
