This is Loki. He was a herding dog who lived on a sheep farm and was apparently too friendly for his own good!

While most of us would consider a happy and sociable dog to be a good thing, his owner found his affable nature a bad fit for his herding job.

Loki ended up being chained to a rusty truck and given a “guarding” job. As cruel as that sounds, it was way worse than described, which a rescuer soon found out.

A Cruel Job

It is unclear what his owner wanted him to guard, as the truck he is tied to is old and falling apart and there were only grass and straws around him.

But Loki was forced to stay outside in chilling winter temperatures to do his “job”. A dog’s loyalty is unfaltering, and so Loki carried on despite the cruelty shown by his owner.

Shivering and all alone, life looked bleak and cold for this poor pooch.

His Rescue

Thankfully, a rescuer from Howl Of A Dog saw Loki’s unfortunate situation and took matters into their own hands.

The rescuer saw his pitiful living quarters and felt rage at the mistreatment. Loki barely had any room to move due to the short chain tied around his neck and he didn’t have any shelter, save for the rusty old truck.

He was also barely fed. When the rescuer brought him warm food, the pooch ate it at lightning speed, as if he had never been given a proper warm meal before.

To make matters worse, Loki was clearly shaking and shivering from the cold winter air. The warm touch of the rescuer felt comforting to him.

Witnessing all this, the rescuer vowed to get him out of this situation. Luckily, Loki’s owner eventually relented and let him go.

Life at the Shelter

At the shelter, Loki was given his own place to sleep and regular meals he could happily chow down on—both of which were warm and lovingly given!

He also wasn’t chained to any rusty old trucks and was allowed and encouraged to be friendly and playful.

At the time of his rescue, the shelter estimated Loki’s age to be around 1.5 years old. Although he wasn’t exactly a pup anymore, he acted like one, with a puppy-like energy to match his nature.

Soon enough, the shelter found out what an amusing smart cookie Loki is. No wonder they named him as such!

A Life Where He Can Be Friendly and Free

After being medically checked, neutered, vaccinated, and chipped by the shelter, Loki was happily adopted by a family in Germany.

Loki is very friendly with people and has endless amounts of energy for exploring the outdoors. In his fur-ever home with his new loving family, he can now be as free and friendly as he wants, without anyone chaining him down.
