From hungry stray dogs to abandoned pets, animal rescuers have seen it all.

But finding a litter of terrified puppies left all alone in a dump site full of sharp debris has got to be one of the most heartbreaking situations for an animal lover to witness.

Scared, cold, ill, and hungry, the pups were not long for this world given their situation. But when all hope seemed lost, some kind-hearted angels passed by and heard their whimpers.

The Hiding Pups

A group of rescuers from Howl Of A Dog stumbled upon eight scared and shivering pups in a random trash dump in Romania.

They were all huddled together and hiding under concrete panels. There were jagged rocks and glass shards everywhere.

The rescuers had no clue who discarded the pups in such a dangerous place nor did they understand how someone could do such a heartless thing to vulnerable creatures. All they knew was that the pups needed rescuing, stat!

A Difficult Rescue

Unfortunately, the rescue was not so easy.

The pups were too scared to come out on their own. Grabbing them was also impossible since their hiding place was too low and narrow, and sharp glass pieces littered the ground. The rescuers did not want the pups to get hurt.

But with food and a little patience, the rescuers coaxed the pups out one by one. They removed some of the bigger shards out of the way, dropped food near the entrance, and waited for them to come out.

The first pup was easy but getting the rest was a challenge. They were very skittish and crying the entire time. They kept retreating into their hole.

By the time the rescuers got the last puppy, it was already dark.

Treating the Puppies

At the shelter, the rescuers immediately had the puppies checked by the vet. They were fed, cleaned, and evaluated for puppy-related diseases.

Unfortunately, one of the pups’ condition was much worse than they thought. She was very anemic and had blood in her urine.

Even with treatments, her frail body was too weak to carry on and she sadly passed away after a few days. Her name was Bella.

Thankfully, the rest of her siblings recovered well.

At the time of their rescue, the shelter estimated their ages to be six weeks old. With food, a warm bed, and a good dose of tender-loving-care, the pups grew into wonderful, healthy dogs.

A New Life for the Pups

The puppies stayed at the shelter for two months. During that time, the staff got to know them and gave them adorable names.

Here’s playful Louie, Cessy arguing with squeaky toys, Miles playing tug-o-war, and Bailey frolicking in the grass.

Daisy has a curious streak when it comes to cats, Toby has a browner coat compared to his siblings, and the shelter likes to call Max a handsome boy.

All pups have now found their fur-ever homes in Germany!

Their story is a heartwarming reminder that although there are cruel people in this world, there are also kind-hearted people who are willing to stop and help those in need.
